Status Update - March 16, 2025
Over the past two weeks, American Opposition has taken decisive action to fight back against the forces threatening democracy in our country.
On March 7, I spoke at the Stand Up for Science protest in Denver. It was part of a National Day of Protest for our scientific community. I told them that “we stand on the shoulders of Galileo and Newton, of Curie and Carver, of Einstein and Salk. We stand on the shoulders of those who dared to seek the truth, and we will never betray their legacy.”
On March 14, I had the honor of speaking at the NOW DC veterans rally on the National Mall. It was an incredible moment — standing alongside tens of thousands of veterans who have served this country and who now refuse to stand by as Donald Trump and his enablers undermine the democracy they fought to protect. The response was overwhelming: People are ready to fight back, and they’re looking for a way forward.
That’s exactly what we are building. This week, I will be meeting with the national leadership of 50501 and GeneralStrike.US to continue to expand on the progress we’ve made.
We also took direct action against Tesla and its CEO, Elon Musk. With nationwide protests at Tesla dealerships, we sent a clear message — Musk’s support for authoritarianism comes with consequences. We followed that with two Total Economic Blackouts, calling on our movement to withhold spending and demonstrate the power of collective economic action.
The oligarchs who think they can bankroll Trump’s authoritarian agenda need to understand one thing: Their wealth depends on us. We are launching a sustained economic resistance campaign targeting the corporations that enable fascism. Our goal? To bankrupt Tesla, Target, and Amazon — not just to punish their complicity, but to put the entire oligarchy on notice.
If billionaires want to fund the destruction of democracy, we’ll make sure their wealth suffers for it.
To do that, we need to empower Americans with real tools to organize in their communities and hold Trump accountable for his failures. That’s why we’re working to fund two critical initiatives:
— The American Opposition App – A powerful tool designed to help people take meaningful action where they live, whether through protests, lobbying, or economic resistance. We want to make it as easy as possible for anyone to maximize their impact.
— The Trump Scorecard – A national digital billboard campaign that will cut through the noise and remind Americans exactly how much worse off they are under Trump. Gas prices, food costs, wages—every key economic indicator compared to the day he took office. No spin, no excuses, just the facts.
